Does Penn see your first marking period grades for early decision? At first I thought they didn’t, then I thought they did but then my guidance councelor told me they didn’t. Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure they don't see those grades unless you're a borderline applicant and they want to see how you're doing in your senior classes. So basically they probably won't see them.

If you have, say, a 3.55-3.6, you think it would work to send in your 1st Q report card with straight A's?

Not applicable in my case on either count, but I'm curious.

im sending in my first quarter....i told my guidance counselor to do it since i ended with a 4.06

that doesnt sound like straight A's. I really don't recommend it at all if you have even 1 grade that's a B or C. Even if they are straight A's, you'll seem like a fool if you already had a 4.0. Again, it will do little good unless GPA is a weak spot in your app, it might even backfire. And even if your GPA was weak, it may lead to that awful Q (or 2): 1) was he just not applying himself/working hard enough before? (2) is his Senior schedge too easy?

i dont really have that problem, i had a cumulative of 3.91 but the 4.06 made it rise to 3.94 with about the same rigor but an extra ap but since sats are my weakspots and for being a recruit, it will show that im not slacking i guess.

well, a recruit makes it different. i know nothing about that subject. but unless you were told to it still seems a wee bit a**l. (which is, of course, not to say that you ARE, but it kinda looks that way)

nah i was encouraged to send it.

then definitely send it :)

I'm worried about my GPA...it's my weakspot..and unfortuantely as a result, my rank is my weak spot too; 5.67/6 weighted and 13/474; at least i have sweet test scores and my schedule is always the hardest
