Eng Comp 3 and A&A 10 are going to fill up INCREDIBLY fast. Eng comp 3 is generally filled by the end of 1st pass. If you want to take them, you should probably enroll in them first.

(btw, 5 classes?! are you crazy? good luck!)

i would go for EC3, and a class that i really need, or one that might introduce scheduling complications.

A&A may fill up fast, but its just a GE that you dont necessarily HAVE to take this quarter.

of those i'd probably go for math (you might need it as a pre-req before you can enroll in other future classes, so best to get it done) or 4AL (not sure how long 4AL labs are, but they can be hard to schedule around if you cant get into the section you wanted)

AA10 WILL fill up fast. There should be spots available after 1st pass; it would be risky to use your second pass on it unless you have an early time (higher class standing). I am guessing that around 100-175 spots will be vacated by first pass. A bunch of people will blindlessly base their decision to take the class based on Bruinwalk difficulty ratings. Go check for yourself.

You can delay English Composition, but if you want to take Burnett, then use your first pass. Save 1B for 2st pass. Take Math. You can get math with second pass, but I don't know how "easy" Preda is. If that is who you want and he/she is easy, then you'll have to use first pass.

This puts you in a tough situation to get into 4AL though, if you choose AA10 and Eng 3 as your first two choices. You can delay 4AL though ...

From a side note, even taking these 5 classes is not crazy. The load is not at all heavy - composition is very easy, AA 10 is a joke, 4AL is slightly time consuming but not difficult, 32A is conceptually easy, 1B is a medium class.

do NOT choose AA10 on first pass. if it fills up, it's 300 people, which means that's a lot more chances that people will drop and let you in later. and if you don't get it this quarter you'll have plenty of other chances. huge GE lectures are never worth freaking out over xD

also, if you want a certain math/physics section, use first pass for it. so eng comp 3 and math or physics ftw for first pass... forget AA 10.

thanks for the advice all!
so it seems like i'll try to get EC3 and either math or physics for my first pass.. do you think choosing physics would be wiser because [to me] it would seem that physics would be much harder with a bad professor as opposed to math where it's much easier to learn on your own?

what's better for your schedule/workload? if there are sections in either class that you REALLY want to avoid, choose that for first pass. ditto with profs.

Actually, i think liyana is right. You don't have to choose AA10, unless you're passionate about the subject. Although there are 200 spots only, you can choose another GE. If your intention is to take easy GE courses , there are many in the same category.

Math is not an easy subject - not everyone can be a math major even if you excelled in math prior to college. But for the 30 series, you will be okay. You can learn the basic concepts in 32A by yourself.

Physics 1B has some important concepts. Again, the theory is not very complex and you can probably learn it by yourself with effort, but having an effective and challenging professor would help you appreciate Maxwell's Equations more.

So, in my opinion, you should try English Composition 3 and Physics 1B.

30A shouldn't fill up by second pass... you should be fine waiting untill then to enroll. Plus, in my experience, the department is generally pretty good about letting people into classes...
