Just got the first quarter report card (4 quarter system) . Nice grades.
Should we send it as a supplement? Where to?

I would like to know the answer to this also… anyone out there have a response??

I would not send them at this point – it is getting quite late into the reading season, and I suspect that the admissions officers will go into selection committee after Thanksgiving (and therefore would be unable to see an update).

The grades need to be sent in the mid-year report for (IIRC) both EA accepted and deferred students, so MIT will see those grades during RD reading if applicants are deferred.

Thank you Mollibatmit!

I also doubt how much the first quarter grades would make a difference even if the adcoms saw it, unless the applicant had bad junior year grades and this is a good indicator that he/she is trying hard to improve or something like that.

I mean, if you have a good track record for grades, excellent continual performance is expected, right? : )

My son is being recruited for a sport and he just got his first trimester grades. The coach wanted them to be sent in as he got a 4.75 GPA. He said it would only help. The admissions office gave him a fax number to fax the transcript and the official was also sent in the mail.

I did not know MIT recruits student-athletes to the school?
I only know from what I’ve researched and heard from one of the coaches there so my information may be inaccurate.

^^ Yes, MIT does ‘recruit.’ It tends to be more subtle than at many other schools but a coach’s support can impact your application.

Do a search both on the MIT forum and on the athletic recruiting forum and you can see previous discussions on the topic.
