Advising Folder up!

just a friendly reminder, the advising folder is up! https://sisprodweb.mit.edu:7115/testscores/FFControl

hope everyone got all the credit they wanted!

by the way, if anyone was expecting to get math transfer credit, and it looks like they didn't, the math dept hasn't finished processing the requests yet. They are currently projecting that the results will be added on Friday. Manwhile it just says something like "no math transfer credit" w/o any mention of specific courses for which you might have applied for credit. That does not mean that credit was denied.

Is it possible to switch RBA seminars?

woohoooooo i got into reading poetry RBA seminar!!! :D

For Hass D, did anyone get Major Poets?

it was "strongly suggested" that i take 8.01L. should i be offended?
just wondering, thanks!

Frankenchris,

Thanks so much for this thread. My son just looked at his folder.

"We have not received any AP scores for you."

What is going on here??? He submited AP scores with his app. We have paid the college board. Every time he took another AP test, he listed MIT.

What do we do now?

Becky, no you should not be offended. The suggestion is just made so that you are not overwhelmed when you get to school. It is still all up to you and you may very well do awesome in 8.01. I am guessing that the reason for that is that you missed some of the pre-calc on the math diagnostic. If you feel that you need the small review, then by all means, take 8.01L. If, however, you just feel that you didn't remember everything for the test but are confident in your math, do whatever you want.

randomdad - your son should call them up. That's how I know that the math transfer credit requests have not been processed yet. Your son's AP scores are probably just misfiled.

randomdad, you should have your son withdraw from MIT. Otherwise, he will have to take elementary classes over again and will not graduate. This screwup is likelly to cause the death of many endangered species, and there is no way to rectify it now. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco is sufficiently high.

EDIT: I apologize for the sarcastic behavior of my evil twin.

What do they mean 'failed to take exam' for the FEE? Is this just because they haven't posted the results yet?

failed to take exam means you didn't take the exam! if you think you took it, then call MIT and see what they say... its no biggie if you haven't, you just have to complete a written version during orientation

if you took it in July, it might just mean that it has not been processed yet (see my post #2 about math transfer credit). Results from July are supposed to be posted tomorrow (Fri) 5pm EST. Wait until then, and then call if it still says you didn't take it.

its still a biggie... I spent a lot of time on those essays!
I think it must just mean that the results are not posted. If it stays the same tomorrow, I'll give them a call. Thanks for the replies though!

I think my daughter has the same situation. I am wondering if you have gotten any more information. She took her exam the second time it was offered. Her freshman advisor folder says that she failed to take the exam. The FEE student results page says that the essay was completed and that the scores are available, but the link just leads to a message saying that the results aren't available yet. Is that what you find? Good luck with your results!

mine says the same thing. it looks like they are just late putting up the results. i know i submitted mine on time.

yep, all exactly the same by me.

I heard back from the program: "There was a technical problem with Information Services. The essays will be available on Monday."
Not to worry then.
