First Quarter Grades Help!!

I have already submitted my application to Cornell AS for ED. When I called the office to see if my app was complete, they said they needed my Mid-year report with my current classes and averages. They told me I could send it myself, but I just had my guidance dept fax my first marking period grades in. Is this standard procedure for all ED applicants? I always thought the mid year report was sent in January regardless of ED or RD. Does the fact that they wanted my grades now mean anything?

Probably not, they want the grades of all of their applicants and since you called they said that to you. The rest of us will be sending in grades after Q2.

NO…they want the first quarter grades because they make ED decisions before first semester exams. It’s the first natural break for report cards.

Ok well in that case i don’t know what you should do. Each school has different grading periods so it is going to differ at each school. Talk to your counselor.

It is your counselor’s responsibility to send in the Fall Report. The process differs by school, but I know that at my school, the first-quarter grades can only be sent with my consent. It’s heavily recommended that you submit them, however – otherwise, Cornell might think you have something to hide.

I know that when my D applied ED (& the deadline was before first Q grades came out), a Cornell admissions counselor called her GC asking if she was maintaining the grades she had been achieving in previous years.

ForeverFish–I think this varies by school. Our head GC announced at a parent meeting that 1st Q grades will be available as of xxx date and students are encouraged to stop in to guidance to pick up copies of these 1st Q grades. He suggested students mail these to their ED/EA schools as another point of contact.
