I think I have to do mine in February.

Well, I’m most likely not going to be using any of my AP credits either (unless I end up at a UC school or at either Boston College or Northeastern), but I’m taking the majority of my AP’s this year out of pure interest in the subject. :)

if i end up going to the UCs i’ll be able to waive close to a fourth of all of my credits for grad -___- so i’ll probably end up double majoring there if i can get all the classes.

i wouldn’t take an ap test for interest in a subject - i love learning but hate the testing portion of it, since it can only determine your proficiency in one way while there are many ways of mastering material

I wish my school let us skip out on APs!!! If we take the class we are forced to sit for the exam :(

^That kinda sucks. Do you have to pay for the exams yourself, or does the state pay for them?

Point taken. But the reason why I like the AP program is the fact that it allows me to obtain a quantitative measure of my mastery of the subject matter. Due to the small size of my current school, I have to self-study for a sizable amount of my AP’s this year, so AP scores are one way I can find out whether I’ve really learned what I want to learn.

-.- at my school the non-AP version of most courses can get you through the AP test. though self-study is very admirable of an undertaking. im planning to do that for AP Bio this year

@Harambee, we pay for them ourselves. You can request a payment waiver and hopefully the school can pay for them, but that’s legit only for the scholarship kids.

Guess who is home schooled as has to self study all his APs…

That doesn’t seem right. You shouldn’t be forced to take and pay for AP exams if you don’t want to.
Good luck. AP Bio has a lot of information to study

At my school, the county used to pay them- but now we have budget!fail, so they’ve stopped doing that as of this year.

Unfortunately, our teachers are used to forcing us to take them regardless of whether we can use them… so it’s going to be interesting if I have to try and get out of taking Human Geo and/or Stat.

You should take the Stat test, it’s an easy 5. You never know when you could use those AP credits

Yeah, i’ve heard it’s really easy to do well. It may also help with placing if you get into Stan

I know it’s easy, but if I get in at Stanford, I can’t use it, and I’d rather not have something else I have to study for…

Amen! 10char

Thanks. I found video courses covering most of the material from some university sites so I’m using that along with a prep book.

Do we have to send first quarter grades? I looked through the website and it only says that they want our counselors to send a mid-year report.

^I don’t think so. As far as I know, we only have to send in a mid-year report
