As a freshman at a top 3 school, I had a rough first semester and ended up with a 3.3. I'm calling this "rough" because 1) that's below the average GPA for my school and 2) before college, I'd never so much as gotten a B in a class before. I challenged myself too hard and took classes I wasn't ready for.
Must I include this in applications for internships this summer? Or is it understandable to leave it out because one semester is barely a GPA?

You don’t have to include your GPA, unless they specifically ask for it. If you think it’ll hurt you, then leave it off.

That being said, the general advice I’ve heard is to include your GPA if it’s >3.0 and leave it off if it’s <3.0. The only thing I can think of that may hurt you if you leave your GPA off your resume is if they assume that you left it off because it was poor (<3.0).
