I am the parent and i have to fill out fafsa for fordham merit. She is a hs senior. She already submitted her fordham application. Is the first thing i do is create a FSA ID username and password for my daughter? Then do i do an ID for myself? I am doing the form for the 20-21 year right?
You do the form for the same academic year. So for the 2020-2021 academic year, you do that form. You will need your tax return from 2018, and your daughter’s as well if she worked.
Yes, create a FSA ID/password for yourself, and then your daughter creates one for herself. Make sure you keep a record of all the questions/answers and log in information. She will need this for each year she is in college.
In addition to your 2018 tax return, you will need any asset balances as of the day you file th FAFSA.
It’s not as awful as it sounds.
If you did an IRA or TSA rollover in 2018, make sure that is entered correctly on the FAFSA form. There is also a little box to check. Not doing this could mean that your rollover will be counted as income.
There are directions for each item as well. And FAFSA does have a help line.
