First Thanksgiving break Flight home

As I was counting down the days till the break, I forgot to notice that

It’s Friday the 13th and
DS will be flying solo for the first time… and is 14.

Unlike old times, he has a smartphone and a debit/credit card, etc, but, still… and I start to worry…

Suddenly realizing 2000 miles is not an optimal distance for school. :((

He’ll be fine, you’ll see. You can be forgiven for opening the Thanksgiving wine a bit early.

I realize I need to save some premium caramel popcorn (boyscout) for him.

ChoatieMom is right (as usual). It’s going to be such a fun break!

We haven’t seen ChoatieCadet (new name?) since 8/15, longest we’ve ever gone. I’m DYING for that hug. He says he’s traveling home for Thanksgiving in “dress grays” and will look like a bellhop. I am going to ball. This has NOT gotten easier.

Hugs to all new BS parents as they anticipate bringing their newbies home for the holiday. That first time back home is special, but don’t be surprised if all they want to do is sleep those first few days.

@ChoatieMom Did you mean you’re going to bawl? Just wondering.

Yes, of course. Stupid phone.

Hope it was a smooth trip.

Mine comes home in 4 days!!! “Mom, why do I have a 2 and a half hour layover in Chicago?” “I could’ve gotten you a six hour layover in Minneapolis…” (Really, though, why no direct flights from Philly to Indy or Cincy?)

@gusmom2000: I feel your pain. No direct flights on ANY airline between our airport and Bradley. Four years of connections. SOOOOOO glad that’s over. I will say, though, that he never missed a connection, so that was something. Good luck to guskiddo. The kids don’t seem to mind it as much as we do.

I wrote a song…
Sing with me!

Our son will be home, Tomorrow,
Unless he misses his connection in Chicago.
He’ll be home!

And if he gets stranded, in Chicago,
Then we’ll take a road trip,
to fetch him!
He’ll still be home!!!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
He’ll be home, tomorrow!
And not 600 miles away!!!

To the tune of…???

We don’t get ChoatieCadet until next Wednesday afternoon. :frowning:

Hold on to guskid and don’t let him go! If he rolls his eyes, smack him.

Tomorrow…from Annie…

To the tune of Annie’s Tomorrow, of course

Mine is in the thick of exams right now. She gets home after midnight tomorrow! We have moved and the new flight times and connection options are NOT to my liking! We were spoiled by non-stops for the past 2 years. She is fine connecting, but the timing is such that she is on the “last flight of the night” - never a great option in case of cancellation. Truth be told: I think she would love sleeping in the airport overnight. Let’s hope we don’t have to test that theory.

To all the new BS parents: also, do not be surprised if re-entry takes a day or so. Both because they are exhausted, but also because they have been doing it all on their own and may chafe a little at family rules and procedures (remember they are still teenagers… LOL).

I’m home!! I need a nap.

so true… getting ready with low expectations so that was I can be pleasantly surprised

@gusmom2000 , Nice! Maybe I’ll trot out my “One Day More” parody again on March 9…

I hope all children are safely home and thoroughly hugged!

Not yet . . . . . . . but connection being made so one flight closer. Soon
