Hey guys, I'm a junior, and I'm taking my first ever AP English exam (Language & Composition).

I'm currently enrolled in this class at my high school, and receive grades in the low-to-mid-90's range, which is respectable.

However I have not been studying much for this test at all, and with a series of distractions lately, it looks like I won't have too much time to actually focus on this thing.

So if anyone out there know how to do well on the exam without "extensive" studying, help would be much appreciated, haha. Like, what should I look out for on the exam and which things should I study the most. Thanks!

ditto. All of my time has been dedicated to ap history. I do have the cliff notes review book though and find it very good when i took the one practice test a couple of months ago.

I don’t think you can really “study” for the exam. Just practice with the essays and make sure you can do well on those. As for MC, maybe take a few practice exams and see what score you end up getting around.

I took the AP Lang exam last year (as a junior) and got a 5. If you’re limited on time, I would recommend studying the literary terms (irony, litotes, pathos, etc)…Cliffnotes has a really good prep book for that. You will need to identify these techniques on not only the MC section but also the free response essays. In terms of the free response portion, I would do the synthesis essay first, followed by the literary response (the one where you read a passage and answer a question on it). Since you have 15 min of mandatory reading time, these readings will be fresh in your mind once you can start writing. I would definitely save the third essay for last because it is basically one of those “opinion” questions and you can always BS it if you run out of time.
