First two weeks of school and I'm already failing a class.

I'm taking AP Human Geography this year. An easy class? Not to me. School has only been in session for two weeks and I'm already almost failing. We've had two quizes so far. The first one I made a 78 and the one today a 68.

Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've never had trouble making all A's. I had a 97 in my social studies class last year. I'm not one of those people who never study, either, or one of those people who has never had to study. I do practice tests from the textbook publisher's website and I do well. I even bought the text book to study from since we don't get to bring the textbook home.

Still, I keep bombing these quizes. So far, I'm doing just fine in my other classes. I'm having a tad bit of trouble in math, though, but no where near this bad.

Usually when I'm doing poorly in class, I'll go to tutoring. That usually nips the problem in the bud. APHG doesn't have tutoring, and honestly, I don't think it would help any. So, CC, any tips to bringing this up to a 90 asap? I have two more quizes before progress reports come out, which are a big deal. It would really kill me to lose the HOPE scholarship because of this.

Do you know, specifically, where you’re having trouble?

Human Geo is common sense bro…

Cyber hug.

This website was the reason I passed the AP test.

When your ability to memorize increase, your critical thinking ability decreases.

Sorry to break it to you xD

Yes. Sorry to break it to you.

Working Memory Vs. Long Term Memory

Its not 100% Inversed. But I highly doubt you’ll see someone any time soon as brilliant as Albert Einstein but with superior memory?

Cognition as social process

It has been observed since antiquity that language acquisition in human children fails to emerge unless the children are exposed to language. Thus, language acquisition is an example of an emergent behavior. In this case, the individual is made up of a set of mechanisms “expecting” such input from the social world.

In education, for instance, which has the explicit task in society of developing child cognition, choices are made regarding the environment and permitted action that lead to a formed experience. In social cognition, face perception in human babies emerges by the age of two months. This is in turn affected by the risk or cost of providing these, for instance, those associated with a playground or swimming pool or field trip. On the other hand, the macro-choices made by the teachers are extremely influential on the micro-choices made by children.

In a large systemic perspective, cognition is considered closely related to the social and human organization functioning and constrains. Managerial decision making processes can be erroneous in politics, economy and industry for the reason of different reciprocally dependent socio-cognitive factors. This domain became the field of interest of emergent socio-cognitive engineering.

Nerds have social problems.
Cognition = Working Memory/Short Term
Memory = …Long Term

A 78 and a 68 isn’t failing…

CC = Basically Nerds.

Drama queeeeens

just kidding…

What worked for me:

Read at home
Skim the material right before the quiz
Victory

As long as you pay attention you should be good. Just put a bit more elbow grease into it, and I think you can get it. Also, you are a winner!

Don’t give up on your seeeeeeeeeeelfffffff!!!

If you’re truly having a content block, I’d gather some of your classmates and make a study group. You’ll help yourself out and have an excuse to talk to that nice brunette you’ve been checking out during down time after quizzes.

Wait, you’re failing human geography? THE easiest AP class ever?
I’m confused

It could be really hard espically some of the concepts but I would tell you to spend more time and be concentrated and don’t stress over too much. It’s just a class, not your life (maybe 1/100000 of it) but still, try to think clear or go ask your teacher questions. That’s what they are they for, ask what you don’t get or set up a private tutorial.
