First Year Chemistry at ND

Current students:

How is the first year chemistry experience working out for you?
Did your upper/high school prepare you for Chemistry at ND?
Is there enough help at ND to get you through Chemistry?
Upperclassmen: What advice can you give to the Freshmen?
And-- what advice do you have for prospective Science majors at ND?

Thanks!

I'm in CHEM 10181, aka Honors Chemistry/Chemistry for science majors and my professor (Dr. Brown) is an amazing teacher, but it is a really difficult and intense class. Its also very fast paced, because it is set up to have us lucky science majors doing organic chemistry starting next semester.

My high school AP chem class was definitely not a substitute for this class; however, I think it prepared me well enough and gave me a good foundation for learning all the new stuff being thrown at me right now.

I went to the office hours the other day and Dr. Brown was really helpful with all the questions I had on the homework. The TAs are also very helpful in the lab and all of the students (both my chem classmates and upperclassmen) are very willing to help each other out. But only time will tell if we all make it through or not...
