After reading about FRS (First-Year Residential Seminar) in the mailing, I have to say I'm intrigued and I love the theory behind the class's structure. I was wondering if anyone has participated in it and if they would mind sharing their thoughts about the class and their entry? Also, does anyone know where FRS is housed? Last year was Williams F, but does it change every year? Are the rooms in Williams F (in Frosh Quad) any good, and would it be possible to get a single while enrolled in FRS?

**I forgot to add that I’m talking about FRS 101: Interpreting Human Experience, not the science FRS.

Every FRS has had some drama but overall a positive experience, from what I’ve heard. I was not in one, but I know some people in it.

Honestly, no matter what you choose–whether it be frosh quad or mission, FRS or not, it will probably be a positive experience. Sure, there was a huge rant on WSO this year, with an FRS member explaining how he hated his entry, but there were also other people from other entries voicing their disappointment with their entries as well. Honestly, the entry system, as well as FRS, is hit or miss. I, personally, absolutely LOVED my entry experience. However, I also know about five people in my entry who weren’t as enthused.

Something you should take into account, though, is the amount of time you will already be spending with your entry. Are you someone who gets tired or annoyed easily? if so, having to spend yet another three hours a week with entrymates may not be the best idea.

My close friend did FRS last year, and also had a single in Willy F. She had an absolute blast. She loved the class, and always talked about how a bunch of her entry’s inside jokes and quirks revolved around the class itself.

FRS was in Mills 2 during my freshman year.

Willy F, like all Willy entries, has a rough balance of 2 doubles/2 singles per floor per entry. So the chances of a single are 33%. It’s always Willy F, and there are sometimes two entries/classes. That specific class has a good track record, but it’s otherwise a normal entry.
