Hi, I’m a first-year. I understand that Brown’s Financial Aid Policy regarding outside scholarships states that outside scholarships can only decrease your loans, work study, and the Brown University Aid. So I have several outside scholarships, none of which can be deferred but can be given to others should I choose to give them up. My loans for next year have already been taken care of by part of these funds. I have enough to cover a laptop and softwares. But I still have scholarship money left over. By giving the excess to Brown, thereby decreasing the Brown University Aid, how will this affect my financial aid package for next year? In other words, will Brown decrease the Brown University Aid portion for next year because they possibly don’t have to give me as much this year or will Brown be nicer next year because I possibly might be helping them out this year? Thanks in advance! :)
