First Year Seminar Ctd...

before i get up there, id like to know the inside scoop on the first year seminars from a current student or parent. for example, which one is the MOST writing intense? LEAST writing intense? which one is the overall easiest? hardest? interesting? dull?

thanks!!!

bump..i wanna know ;)

I wanna know too =p

sybbie...?

=p Sybbie's da best!

Sangel,

They are all designed to be writing intensive because it is a continuation of writing.

FYS listing:

http://oracle-www.dartmouth.edu/dart/groucho/course_desc.fysem_main

Your best bet would be to choose 4 topics that interest you as there is also a lot of reading and discussions in the FYS classes.

i have allready looked at them and they all interested me about the same (why i asked about the difficulty of them). but basically, youre saying that they are all the same hardness and the same reading and writing, just in different fields? do you know anyhting about the intructors?

thanks

I've heard good things about Washburn, Butler, Simons, and Kangas. Kremer's can be fun, though he assigns a lot of reading; the class designs its own exhibit of scientific instruments.

Just got back late this afternoon from taking D back home to Hanover.
D said that Cecilia Gaposchkin who is teaching Constantine is really good and she said she's heard great things about her.

Did you get a chance to look up the professors since they also teach other courses @

You use your blitz name and password for access. That way you can see what other students say about them. She said that requirements given in the descriptions do run pretty true to form, so at least you get to see up front how much wiriting is going to be involved in each class (one seminar has a 17 page paper .)

I must admit, that last year they had better first year seminiars. (nothing really pops out as anything I would be interested in either :) )

WG, back to the Bio19 placement test...

Is it similar to the AP test? I've been skimming my notebook rather lightly, and I was just wondering about the layout. Also, how long is it?

Thanks.

Multiple choice/fill in the blank if I recall. About 65 questions.

Thanks. I'll just cross my fingers...
