Hi guys.
I was recently accepted into Cornell’s FYSA program and while I’m very happy and excited, I’m also kind of stressed out and confused on what to do. So I wanted to see what some of you FYSA people are doing during the Fall semester.
So if any students who were also admitted to the FYSA could share what they did, that would be great.
For those of you who don’t know, there are many options:
- Attend community college - Considering b/c of the cost but I don’t think I will enjoy that one semester
- Attend four year university - What I personally want to do.
- Internship? - Though I feel that there are very few opportunities for students who aren’t in college yet.
- Travel? Do something fun? - A good option for some but I’m personally not feeling it.
Hopefully this thread can help all of us make informed decisions on what we want to do in the Fall.
Thanks.
Just FYI, nobody can say what they personally did during fall semester because this is the first year that Cornell has done spring admissions. So you guys will get to be the guinea pigs who can help FYSA students in future years!
@Ranza123 I was kind of directing this towards other people that were accepted to the program this year. But since there are only 125 of us, I guess its hard to get responses. Anyways, I’ll make sure to be a good guinea pig and answer future FYSA applicants questions.
S3 will be attending local community college and following the course guide that was given to him from HE. He is looking forward to joining the class of 2019 in January. There is a Facebook page for FYSA. You may bet a better response there.
This is just one parent’s personal opinion. If it were my D, I would not recommend her going to another 4 year institution for one semester. Too expensive and too much hassle. Rather, I’d have her look into taking some classes at our local community college, (pending that they will transfer), working and saving money. Alternatively, if money is not an object, then taking a “gap semester” to travel sounds fantastic!
This is probably really late, but I’m also FYSA and I am attending a four year university. I’m taking courses that may be able to transfer to Cornell so that I don’t have to waste a semester.
