Does it really matter if freshmen go on the DOC trip before orientation?

Does it matter? Maybe not, but the vast majority of students seem to love the experience.

You’d feel a little left out. Almost everyone goes. But if you really can’t make it- don’t worry about it. The trips are very fun but not required.

Can we bring all our stuff and leave it in our dorms while we go on the DOC trip? It would be a huge pain to go back home after the DOC trip to bring my stuff. Also, how much does the DOC trip cost? Is there aid for it?

Check out the web site. They have preliminary info there and this type of question is answered. Depends on where you live, whether you can go home after the trip, i.e, live close by vs. need to fly home.

Here’s the link: [DOC First-Year Trips: Dartmouth College’s Outdoor Orientation Program](<a href=“First Year Trips”>First Year Trips)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the first-year trips. The cost, the hassle of going back home and then back to campus after the trip (which only half of the people have to do; others stay on campus following their trips) is all worth it!

Please please go on a trip! It will make you love Dartmouth that much more and will also set you up for an awesome fall term. :)

Yes, I did! :)
