@kmalin I read somewhere that every acceptance letter says “outstanding applicant”. It doesn’t mean anything special as everyone who gets in gets that lol
@Eightd if she got in it should say congratulations outside the package all over it. Check out the hashtag #fitwelcome on IG to see what the package looks like
As has been posted before, the vast majority of applicants have not been notified yet. “Official” notification date is April 1st. FIT staff has said “most” decisions will be sent out by then and, fingers crossed, received by the end of next week.
As far as transfer admissions goes, you can look up the past stats on the FIT website. For fall of 2017, the numbers were:
1,957 transfer applications
1,021 transfers accepted – a 52% acceptance rate for transfers
For first-time freshmen, the 2017 numbers were:
4,739 applications
2,229 accepted – 47% acceptance rate.
So…transfers actually had a higher acceptance rate than first-time freshmen. Obviously this will vary a lot by department and some departments take very few students. Either way, it’s reasonable to assume that FIT will accept about 1,000 transfer students for next fall, and it doesn’t sound like transfer letters (good or bad) have been received by anyone on this forum yet.
To give a bit more perspective on the timing – on the #FITwelcome instagram, only about 20 students have posted their acceptances. FIT will likely accept over 3,000 students before this is over. It is only the beginning, hang in there.
transfer here! got accepted today into fbm! I live in NYC so I may have gotten mine sooner than most transfers/applicants. just wanted to post this to confirm that some transfer acceptances have definitely been sent! congrats to everyone who has gotten in and good luck to everyone!!
Awesome, sounds like last week’s mail is starting to roll in!
Any international student who has your address in Asia and got a decision letter or email??
Looking at last year’s thread, most people got their acceptance packets on Saturday-Tuesday.
Nothing in the mail today (Saturday). But looks like some downstate people are getting theirs. We are WAY upstate NY. Hopefully my daughter hears Monday.
On a side note: As a NY taxpayer it’s unfortunate that OOS students are hearing before we do. Shouldn’t in-state students have some priority?
@Kpopchicken No sign other than the COA change and the Financial Aid Status changing to Package will be available in April. I was worried all the way until this afternoon when I saw the Congratulations on the Envelope.
@Eightd congrats!!! Where do u live?
@hailey0605 Thank you, She worked hard for it. Western Maryland and she is in 2 year AAS Fashion Design
Hey everyone!! So excited to say I just got my acceptance letter today for the Direct and Interactive Marketing bachelors program for this fall!! I’m a transfer student who had applied almost 2 months after the deadline so I was extremely nervous about getting in, but just goes to show theres hope for everyone!
My son got his acceptance today to the AAS In Communication Design Foundation! He applied in December, COA updated beginning of February. We are in upstate NY near Saratoga. We have a very happy boy here!!! Whew! What a long wait that was…
Hey, im a transfer student & i live an hour north of the city. I got my acceptance letter today for FBM. Good luck to everyone else!
I’m a transfer student located in NYC and I just received my acceptance letter today for Illustration AAS! Thank god the wait is over. Sending good vibes to everyone~
i think everyone will receive their acceptances very soon i look on the FITs instagram tags and a lot of people are postsing theier packages!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
@katerinaxo Why do transfers get a lower consideration? Some go to school to raise their GPA then reapply. I don’t think it’s fair for transfers to get last pick since we also work as hard to get into our dream school!
Good vibes for everyone! This has been a great support group!!! Thanks to everyone who was sharing info!
im a transfer, live an hour north of nyc, applied to film & media, and i havent heard anything congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted!!
@Gilprogettista Im not sure if they do that for every major/program but for the one I’m trying to get into (CFM) they do that.
Someone from that dept was so blunt with me when I went to speak about applying to the program. He literally said “you may have a perfect gpa and be the perfect candidate but if there’s no space you wont be accepted bc we prioritize our own students (the ones that completed their AAs at FIT). And sometimes we don’t even have space for them. Don’t want to discourage you but you should have a back up plan” I walked out feeling kinda down but I still wanted to apply. I was discouraged, he basically said the chances of me getting in are slim to none. Even tho I graduated Magna Cum Laude, 3.8 GPA from my previous college.
Did you apply for a bachelors or associates? I think it depends on how competitive the program is. CFM is extremely competitive bc no other school in the US offers a bachelors of science in that program. And I can only apply for the Fall (if I don’t get in, I’d have to wait an entire year to reapply!!). If the program your applying to is offered at other colleges it shouldn’t be as competitive
Still nothing ??
