hey everyone! I’m a second semester student (currently in FBM but that’ll change lol) at FIT rn, and I remember this painful wait. My COA changed when I got in, and I’m in Presidential Scholars (would rec applying, we get a ton of nice benefits), so I got my letter March 26th. Presidential Scholars got their letters first.
ninja edit: good to note that only 40-45 people are picked for Pres. Scholars out of the freshman class
My COA changed but only to @$ 12,500… it seemed to me that people were posting it went up to$ 27-28,00… do you think it’s just because it’s in state tuition and they are only showing by semester? I’m thinking it’s still good news…
I applied to the Presidential Scholars program for this upcoming fall! Do you know if it is hard to get into? And if you didn’t mind sharing, what was your GPA and ACT/SAT scores in high school? Thank you so much !
@shakuton Thanks for coming back to the thread and helping us out, much appreciated!
If it’s not too much to ask, how would you say your experience at FIT would differ if you hadn’t gotten Scholars program versus how it is today being in the program? Thanks!
@sssaaaa Honestly, all of my best friends I’ve made here are from Presidential Scholars. A lot of the people I know in here in the freshman group are rooming with Pres Scholars next year and have really close friend groups. Plus, in my opinion, the priority registration is a godsend. Most people don’t get the schedules they want, but we get whatever we planned out for the next semester (e.g. I now have a four day weekend next semester bc of it). + I think I would’ve never had the opportunities I had (you’re encouraged to take more than one minor, we get certain $20 broadway tickets, monthly free dinners and events, etc.), so I think I personally would’ve had an extremely different experience without the program!
@chloegucci
I honestly have no idea if Pres. Scholars is hard to get into, but I’m sure every component of the applicant (essay, scores) is weighted equally. I do know Baker’s Scholars is harder to get into than Presidential though.
I had a 3.25 UW, 5.1 W in high school (9 APS) and I took the SAT twice (1310, 1380, superscored was a 1480). Most people are AMC/FBM/FD in it.
Thank you so much for your response! I’m super worried I won’t get in, I have only taken 1 AP class, but I do have a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) and I got a 28 on my ACT. It seems like such a good program with awesome benefits though!
If you don’t get in, don’t worry because you’re allowed to reapply sophomore/junior year as long as your GPA is a 3.5! Most people didn’t have as many APs as I did from what I’ve heard. Good luck
hello!!! i applied to transfer into film & media as my major and im an instate transfer. my current gpa is a 3.4 from a private college 15 miles north of nyc. do any of you know if they accept people with a gpa that low??
So I’m hella impatient and impulsive and I check my application ever second knowing nothing is going to change. A few days ago I was able to click on site map with no problem but now when I do it and try to log in it says my user and password are invalid. Does that mean anything ? Or am I just over reacting cuz the wait is killing me !!
I am having the same issue with the site map. I think either they figured out that people were accessing it or she didn’t get it and they don’t want us to see.
You mean that either they blocked us or I didn’t get in ? I looked over my stuff it says it hasnt been reviewed so hopefully I get in. Fingers crossed.
