I recently just got rejected from SAIC and Parsons. I’m upset, but I saw this coming. My grades and academics have never been high, my GPA probably ranges from 2.0-2.5 and my SAT score (which I only took once) is 1080. But after both rejections, I’m starting to worry that I won’t end up getting into any of the schools I applied to, all of them being art schools. I know my portfolio isn’t the problem because I go to art based high school and have gotten a lot of positive feedback from professionals and past art alumni.
I was confident about SAIC because I had read past reviews that they base their decision more on students’ portfolio, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore since my rejection letter clearly stated it was because of my grades. I’m not looking for reassurance, but I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with getting into FIT or SCAD with grades as low as mine, and maybe some other school options I should look into with a good art program.
