Five steps to easily break the 2100 barrier in one month

Do you have a subpar SAT score, and do you want to increase that score by more than 250 points? Well, you have come to the right place. Follow these simple steps, and I guarantee at least a 200 point increase!

1) Buy the following books: The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition, Barron's SAT Writing Workbook, Kaplan SAT Critical Reading Workbook, and Math SAT 800: How To Master the Toughest Problems.

2) Week 1: Work through the blue book (everything but the ten tests.) Work through the first quarter of the Writing workbook. Make sure to read the explanations. Take blue book practice tests 1 and read the explanations online at College Board Book Owner's area. Make sure to realize why you made any mistakes.

3) Week 2: This is going to be the toughest week. Work through the rest of the writing workbook. Make sure to finish it. Work through the first half of the Critical reading workbook. Remember to adequately work though these books, and realize why you got any question wrong. Take practice test 2, 3, and 4. Read explanations, and make note of your mistakes.

4) Week 3: Finish the critical reading workbook. Complete the first third of the math workbook. Take practice tests 5, 6, 7, and 8. Read explanations.

5) Week 4: Complete the rest of the math workbook. Take practice test 9 and thoroughly read explanations of what you got wrong. By this time, you will be prepared for the SAT. Take practice test 10, and this will be a solid indication of how you will perform on the real SAT. And for your own good, read the explanations.

The sixth optional step: Buy the McGraw Hill 12 Official Practice SAT tests, and work through all of them. Work through these tests concurrently with your SAT Prep Plan. Give yourself an extra week if you have to. This book includes explanations, so make sure to utilize them. This book is a great optional addition to your SAT Prep Plan.

Good luck!

Bummer, I only have two of the above books in my bookstore. Still I’ll try to follow this plan with those. Thanks for your help!

How do you know if this works? Have you tried it?

You can buy these books off of Amazon. And yes, this plan has worked for me. I actually did it in less than a month. I got a 190 on my PSAT, and now I have a 2260. I didn’t study at all for my PSAT, but then my friend told me about these books, and I decided that I would study and try to get a higher score on the real SAT.

Don’t bother with collegeboard’s sat advice if you want a very high score. There is much better advice in the other suggested prep books. Reading it is only a waste of 2-4 hours.

That is not true; SAT’s advice helps quite a bit.

You are amazing
I only have 2 weeks and I have a 2100 but I’ve finished all the college board test twice. : (
What can I do now?
My highest bb section score.
cr : 680
math: 730
Writing:750

^^Yes, but that advice is also seen in the other prep books, so there’s no reason to waste hours reading the Blue Book

I think you it would be easier to believe you if you had compared practice SAT tests of before you started studying to after you started studying instead of the PSAT to the SAT. Their slightly different and the actual SAT has more questions plus the essay. In fact it would have been easier to compare your scores if you took the official SAT twice and then compared your scores from the first try to the second try after you started studying. Just saying~

who has time for 4 practice tests in 1 week?

^People who have a week off from school

Yeah…how did you manage that? Sounds like a good summer study method. I admire your hard work. But I barely have time for a few sections of bb practice tests a night let alone a couple tests a week

From my experience you should add the Direct Hits vocabulary books into this study list. To get the CR score over 700 tyou need to get most of not all the sentence completions correct. The books helped me raise my score to a 760.

Many students have found that Silverturtle’s guide on the writing section is all they need to get a high score instead of buying another book.

Hey, what would u recommend besides the vocab book to improve CR? Barrons? or Gruebers?and math , is the Math SAT 800: How To Master the Toughest Problems good?

I worked through the practice tests in College Board blue book 2nd edition and followed Siverturtle’s Guide. The College Board also has a free practice test which is a real SAT on their website and the Best of SAT Prep at the top of this forum has links to other practice SATs. Look up every word you don’t know whether it is a right answer or a wrong answer on the practice tests.

For math I just used the College Board practice tests so I don’t know about the MATH SAT 800 book. I would stick to the College Board materials for now.

Im also currently reading loads of books, I have 630 in cr rite now,u think its possible to improve it to 680 by may? ;)))))

Very possible. Just keep practicing, and use the strategies I suggested.

Unless you’re already over 750 in math, worry less about the toughest questions on the test and worry more about making NO mistakes on the earlier questions. Until you’re reliably scoring 760+, #20 is the least important question on the test.

You’ll increase your score more by getting less easy questions wrong than you will by getting more hard questions right.

I know this is a old thread but… do you recommend Math SAT 800: How To Master the Toughest Problems over Dr. Chung’s SAT Math…or I can use any??
