The FAFSA is very dumb and there are many browsers Mac, Windows, and Unix that will run into the incompatible browser problem (just google).

I found a fix for those running Safari 5.1 on Mac:

Go to Safari / Preferences - Advanced. Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
From the menu bar select Develop / User Agent / Safari 5.0.6 - Mac.

tried using safari, firefox, chrome on my two month old MAC, everything up to date, except it seems the government isn’t. Going to try it on my ten year old MAC. Hope they fix it by the time I actually get my taxes in order.

notakid’s fix got me in, thanks. Maya, i am using 5.1.2, iMac G 10.7.2, wonder what is different about your configuration. Last year I used firefox on an older Mac, but had the same problem with using browsers that were supposedly supported, but were not. Oh well.

I’m in the same situation with my Mac…but I don’t know what the emulator of Safari 5.0 means or is. Can someone help?! Thank you. My current Safari is 5.1.2

From #1 Go to Safari / Preferences - Advanced. Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
From the menu bar select Develop / User Agent / Safari 5.0.6 - Mac.
