She's a working mom, who has more executive experience than Obama. She stood up to big oil and won.

Still standing on that sinking ship, are we?

She made real changes while in office while Obama voted "present".

Oh, jeez. Could you please cite her accomplishments instead of using sweeping generalizations. She was a mayor of a dinky little town and governor of a state of 700,000. She doesn't believe that climate change is in anyway man-made. She hired a lobbying firm to get funds for her little town yet claims she's against pork barrel politics. For a long time, she supported the bridge to nowhere, until it became politically prudent to stop. She is vastly under qualified to be the POTUS.

P.S. I couldn't care less if she was a working mom.

Define "real changes."

Palin got a $1200 check for everyone in AK from big oil. How's that for change? Way better than someone who voted "present".

That's not change.

That money came from the surplus in the state budget, a result from high oil prices. It did not come from big oil. It was essentially a tax rebate because of the huge increase in tax revenue from rising oil prices. Key difference.

Really? You're that hung up on the "present"?

We shouldn't pretend that these threads will change anyone's mind.

What a lot of people from NYC, LA , Chicago, etc do not seem to get, is that Palin connects with the heartland of America, their values, their simplicity...

Palin was already making executive decisions in her small town, when Obama was STILL handling pamphlets to community organizations in Chicago.

Everyone better start getting used to the idea of her as as the next VP of this great country..... YEAAAH!!!!

This type of rhetoric is what makes me lose faith in our country. I feel sick to my stomach.

It did come from big oil---there profits.

Obama can't even improve the public schools in his neighborhood in Chicago. He had a chance but didn't do anything while he was in office.

A First Look at (Sarah) Palinomics - Capital Commerce (usnews.com)

"The tax raises when oil prices are high, and falls when oil prices are low. This give amazing incentive for the oil companies to produce more oil, which increases supply, and lowers prices for everyone including the taxes they themselves pay the state."

:) Genius

This statement implies that she somehow procured the money from big oil. She did not. Oil skyrocketed, tax revenues went up, Alaska was left with a large surplus. She threw some back at the people. The fact that she made the decision to give a tax rebate can not be equated with standing up to big oil because she didn't. It's that simple.

I come from a fairly small town, and I can guarantee that she doesn't connect with my values or simplicity. I don't know what kind of "values" one has to have to thrust her pregnant teenage daughter into the spot light for her and her boyfriend's life to get ripped apart. Our "simplistic values" would've been to try and protect our children instead of putting our own ambitions in front of the love of our children and the consideration of their well-being.

The money came from corporate revenue taxes. The fact that oil had record revenue that year is irrelevant.

Now we are attacking Obama's ability to fix the public school system?

Fine, I'm in the Chicago public school system, so I know a bit about it. Obama worked to expand early childhood education and supports charter schools, probably two of the best things we can do for education. Let me tell you, the struggling in school is a mindset, not a lack of resources. I see it everyday, and the people who want to do the work learn. Those who don't fail. No politician can fix that.

Sarah Palin backs drilling but has tangled with Big Oil. - Aug. 29, 2008

Yeah okay, whatever. Instead of diminishing her achievements, how about touting some of Obama's?

We're ready :D

Don't forget that Palin's husband has worked extensively with Oil companies. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to hold her hand every step of the way with her "accomplishments"...

LOL to the person who, somewhere on the forums, said "she fought her way against big oil." <what a JOKE.

Not this time!
