I'm applying to Georgetown's FLL program and I was wondering if anyone know how many students are in it?
Also, I read somewhere that you need a foreign language teacher's recommendation if you apply for FLL. Is this true? Because, I definitely didn't...and it would be a huge mistake because I currently have my language teacher for four years straight and I have the highest grade in her class for all these years. I'm nervous now.

It absolutely would have been a great idea to get a letter of rec from your language teacher, however it is not required. You should try sending one in now, anyways, even though it's a bit past the deadline. I don't think it would hurt. I don't think they penalize you for a teacher being late on sending something in -- that's how they would see it.

Would it be seen as negative if Georgetown receives three teacher recommendations? I believe my English and Astronomy teachers have already sent in their recommendations.

hmmm...well if youve already sent in two, then im not sure. georgetown only asks for one, but I sent in two as well. I suggest you call the admissions office, in that case, or talk to a regional rep. If those two you already sent are really good, then I don't think it's necessary to send in the third.

The FLL is pretty small compared to the other schools, but is a decent size. I think I heard that at least 25% or more of students in the College have at least one major or minor in the FLL (since a lot of people minor in a language). I don't know what you want to major in, but Linguistics has a little over 80 undergrad majors in total, there are a ton of Spanish, French and Arabic majors, and other majors are much smaller, like Russian, Portuguese, German, and Comparative Lit, with probably about 20 undergrad majors.

If you are planning on doing a language major, I would think the most important rec you could get would be from a language teacher (unless you're deciding to start up a different language than the one you've already taken). If you're going for linguistics or comparative lit, it wouldn't matter so much(and the English teacher rec would be fine).

And no, you won't be penalized for sending in extra recs.

Thanks for your responses. I contacted my college counselor and he suggested that I send in my language rec as well. I'm considering to major in Comparative Lit and possibly Chinese.

Not that I have anything useful to contribute to this discussion, but... dragonreborn? As in, Dragon Reborn? As in Rand al'Thor and Robert Jordan, may he rest in peace?

I love it. But correct me if I'm completely off-base.

For FLL do they take a specific number in for each language, or does it fluctuate? I applied for Japanese, which is, I'm guessing, not as popular as Spanish or something.
