Florida State University/ FSU Accepted/Rejected Class of 2023

@avag4444

I don’t know what your application looked like, so it’s hard to say about summer vs fall vs denied vs “do a semester at TCC or abroad and transfer to FSU spring term”.

That having been said, a lot of freshmen have found summer or spring admission to be a good way to start, particularly if they’re not the val/sal, National Merit Scholar, super-mature kids. FSU in the fall demands you hit the ground running, that you be on your A game on a very busy and crowded campus from day one. There are a lot of distractions, a lot of things going on, and a lot of people. It can be a challenge. If the admissions office suggests you take a different route, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

And no. If they tell you Jan 31, they mean Jan 31. My son found out Dec 8 of his senior year, but he applied by the early deadline, not the later one.

To clarify, January 31 IS the EA acceptance announcement from the early deadline. The Regular Decision announcement is March 28th. Not sure how your child could have received an admission from FSU in December unless they were a recruited athlete or if it was several years ago.

Transfer announcement dates may be different

My daughter applied after the Nov 1st deadline (Nov 10th) and received the email that her decision would be available Jan 31st. Was kind of surprised by that, as I figured they would hold steady to their deadlines. Better for her that she doesn’t have to wait as long, I guess lol.

Due to Hurricane Michael the application deadline was extended for those impacted so perhaps they extended across the board?

Chance My Daughter Thanks

GPA: 4.0uw/5.26w

ACT: 33

She wants to major in Environmental Engineering

I know I am missing some things, but this is the core stuff. Be brutally honest.

@BigHerms , I don’t think she has anything to worry about. She should be admitted to honors program with an OOS tuition waiver, which should make FSU cheaper than her in state Texas options.

@BigHerms Accepted Fall 2019 with Freshman scholarship and an INVITATION to the honors program, which if she is interested in, she will have to complete a separate application.

If she’s OOS, a full tuition waiver will most likely be granted.

Thanks. But she won’t get honors or scholarship. She applied too late. Texas Tech, Miami, University of South Carolina, or Colorado School of Mines is where she will end up. Again thank you thank you for the input

Oh, heck, she could get into UF with those stats. She’ll get a nice scholarship at FSU with them, and probably Honors College acceptance too.

what time are decisions released?

This Thursday according to their website, but this year a lot of big state schools have been releasing decisions early so Thursday will be the latest. As far as time goes, that’s up in the air. I would guess sometime before their office closes.

@12345hii last year, decisions came out around 4:20 (I remember because I had just landed on a flight to New York and checked my phone as soon as I switched the phone back on) While the time may change each year, FSU will not release any sooner than Thursday, their posted date.

Does anyone know whether we’ll receive an email from FSU when admissions are announced . . . . of if we just need to keep checking the FSU website.

@WhiteClamSauce I saw a tweet from FSU Admissions that said the portal will update first and an email will follow
