I was corresponding with one of my former professors who is still at KP and asked him how things were going. He had nothing positive to say. Aside from the SNAFU that is RADM Worley's resignation, rumors have started spreading that MARAD is looking to move KP from, well, KP to somewhere in Florida.
When at a meeting between the faculty and the Administrator, a member of the faculty asked if there was any truth to this rumor, and he did not have an affirmative answer.

I was wondering if anyone closer to the school either on the Administrative or Alumni side knows anything more.

Would that necessarily be bad? It would probabbly be more cost effective to build a new installation than to continue to sink money into renovation. Addittionally, with the cost of Great Neck/Kings Point real estate I don’t see it possible for the school to expand from its dated facilities to those of a more modern university.

yes…it would be MUCH more expensive…there is enough real estate to build another classroom building or two…not even needed…more importantly, what’s Mr. Matsuda doing about hiring some more faculty?? MARAD and DoT are dragging their collective feet…

Rumours - the fuel that seems to drive Kings Point … do the people who spread these things even think through what such an event would take to make happen? First of all just do the timeline - a move of Kings POoint would easily take over 5 yerars to make happen …the cost would be , well a lot. Real Estate/space to expand is available and tradition and heritage is worth something - perhaps the runour is being spread to incite greater support…who knows…of course it is the Federal Government and logic doesn’t always apply…

This is once again just a rumor, it started because MARAD was thinking of ALL options for the school including some of the more obscure ones like if moving would be cost effective.
