Flu shot 2022-2023

Ok…I did a search for a thread about this. Let’s just say…I didn’t get anything remotely related. So…if there is a thread, feel free to merge this post.

I got my flu shot Friday afternoon. Woke up Saturday feeling awful. Spent the day between my bed and the bathroom. I’ve never had a reaction to a flu shot before. Is this a reaction…or a coincidence?

I finally woke up at 5:30 pm. And I’m feeling a lot better. Not 100% but better.

I am guessing coincidence. I had my flu shot and Covid booster together on Wednesday and had absolutely no side effects except a sore spot on my arm where the Covid booster was.

I did ok with the flu shot this year., but got tetanus or tdap Thursday evening. Felt ok other than a sore arm until Friday afternoon, but wie it got worse and worse. Last night was the worst I felt after a shot that I can remember. Today isn’t as bad but still anytime the Advil wears off, it’s not pretty. Body aches mostly and I could hardly move my arm last night.

I had a flu shot in late September, with no significant reaction as usual. I did not get any other vaccine at the same time.

There are several brands of flu shot available in the US, which may have different formulations. You may want to check if you get unpleasant reactions with specific brands of flu shot (e.g. the one you got this year) but not others (e.g. the flu shots you got in past years).

No reaction at all to this year’s flu shot (as is usual for me).

I got the flu shot a couple of weeks ago and had no reaction (not even a sore arm).

Glad you are feeling better now.

All in our family have taken the flu shot. S on the west coat, D on the east coast, wife and I in Texas. Our D did, however, come down with the flu at school (tested positive). She was absolutely hammered for about 10 days.

We were all good with the flu shot too. Hope you feel better soon!

No problems here. Had the COVID booster and the flu shot at the same time and just had a sore arm. Hope you continue to feel better.

Flu shot and Covid booster same day. No major issues. Sore arm, that’s it. Hope you feel much better soon!

Oddly no issues for me this year.

Guillian Barre admits though.

No reaction from the flu shot for me either.

I posted a couple of weeks ago that DH and I each got our Covid booster in one arm, flu shot in the other. No side effects other than mild soreness at both sites, but perhaps a bad decision for this side sleeper who had no good options for a couple of nights.

Did you get the senior version for over 65, which is four times the strength of the vaccine for younger people? I got really sick with the senior version a few years ago and now request the flu shot for under 65.

Got an updated Covid booster and my annual flu shot at the same time - no side effects or reaction.

Well…I feel fine this morning, thank goodness! Maybe a coincidental 24 hour bug. But no fun!

We did the same thing. My husband and I got both flu and updated Covid booster in the same shoulders. Hate to prolong suffering, but there was none. My husband thought he was mildly under the weather for a day, but his flu shot was the quad strength aka senior shot. Those apparently are nasty.

Maybe that’s what I had. I’ll need to check.

I had the flu shot at the end of September along with my first shingles shot. I woke up in the middle of the night shivering as if I had a fever, but I took my temp and it was normal. Woke up with a slight headache that resolved after I took some Motrin. Other than that, I was fine but don’t know if the reaction was from the shingles or the flu vax. I’ve never had a reaction to the flu vax and get them every year.

Dh and D17 both had flu shots with no reactions. My boys are getting them when they come home for Thanksgiving.

Same. No reaction. In fact, I immediately went on to a bonfire party and felt totally fine.
