Flying home for Thanksgiving

Does anybody know if most professors cancel classes the day before Thanksgiving? My son has classes on Wednesday, but would like to fly home on Tuesday if the Wednesday classes will be cancelled. Also, does anyone have information on the buses that go to the airport from campus?

Most professors either cancel class, or make it something that is ok to miss (ie, won't be on exams or tests). Not because they want to, but because such a large number of students leave, anyways.

As far as getting to the airport, http://www.msa.umich.edu/airbus/ . Runs to Detroit Metro that Tuesday and Wednesday, and back from the Airport the following Sunday. It's $10 each way (only $7 on the way there if you buy a ticket in advance, otherwise you swipe your Mcard and the cost shows up on the student tuition bill). Much much cheaper than a taxi. Only possible issue is if you have a really early flight, where you need to be at the airport before the Airbus starts to run (if you have a late flight, you could just take the last one and wait). Then you'd need to take a taxi or find a friend with a car willing to get up real early (or not sleep the night before, not that I've done that....cough).

Yep, they just make the class something where it is ok to miss usually. Might also happen the day before SPRING BREAK!!! as well.
