One of my students was interviewed today, and was told that he would be highly recommended. The interviewer thought this student was a good match for JHU. How much weightage will you give to this comment, considering that the application is the one of the best from our NY capital public schools, straight A student, many science olympiads gold medals, national French winner and the best violin in the local orchestra and school. ? Do you really read the contact reports in making a decision ?
Thanks

They do not work here, unlike other forums.

As stated on our interview web sites:

On-Campus: http://apply.jhu.edu/visit/interviews.html
Alumni: http://apply.jhu.edu/visit/aluminterviews.html

...our interviews are more informational than evaluative. That means that the summary reports submitted by alumni (off-campus) or student (on-campus) interviewers are added to the applicants' folders but play little role in the application evaluation process. Interviews give an applicant the chance to add detail to their application, but they are mostly used to provide an opportunity for the student to meet with a representative of Hopkins.

Personally, I will read through an interviewer's report when reviewing a student's application and pay most attention to the student's answers to the interviewer's question and less attention to the recommendation of the interviewer. Admissions decisions are comprehensive decisions that are based primarily on the student's application ... an interview report will not guide our final decision.

Thank you very much for your reply.
