Font for the commonapp essay?

<p>What font should I use for my commonapp essay? What's the most proper? What do colleges prefer?</p>

<p>I just used Times New Roman, size 12. Simple and standardized.</p>

<p>As long as you don’t use Comic Sans or Wingdings, you should be fine.</p>

<p>A friend of mine used Cambria font via Word for Mac for her essay, and the preview of the essay showed a bunch of boxes/question marks for the characters. She then switched it to Times New Roman, and the essay appeared normally.</p>
