Food/Points

Hey,

I just want to clarify how this will work when I get to Tufts in September.

I use my points, I'm assuming a card or something to get meals, and I'm limited daily to how many meals based on my meal plan (which is how many for Freshman?), but are like "snacks" limited, or can I get like 1000000 snacks/drinks with my points/day...also, do the daily meal limits limit servings?

Thanks, it's 1:30am, this is what's on my mind...lol

haha no worries Duffman- believe me food is on everyone's mind. As a freshman you are entitled to unlimited meals in the dining hall. This means that, as you said, you can get 1000000 snacks and go in and out of the dining hall as many times as you want throughout the day. If you're on the way to class and want to grab an apple or "fro yo" you are more than able to do so.

However, points are different than meals. Points are used at other non-dining hall campus eateries, such as brown and brew, tower cafe, campus center, etc. Points can be purchased and these are used as actual money, so there is a limit.

For more info, just go to the Dining Services website, which explains everything in more detail: http://www.tufts.edu/dining/

Check out the "Meal Plans and Points" link in particular- should give some good info

During any meal period you can get food at the take out place but that means that you won't be able to eat in the dining hall for that meal period. It works the other way around too

I always wondered how the to go place worked, because obviously you can't take whatever you want.
Well apparently oyu can get ofod up to the dollar value they assign to certain meals

so in each meal period you can get food equal to....
BREAKFAST 4.45
LUNCH 7.15
DINNER 9.10

if you go to the dining website posted above and thne go to the dining halls link then to Hodgdon and then at the top click on MENU you can see some of the options, though they haev a lot more than just what's on that menu.

Premium Plan
All first-year students and first-semester transfer students are required to enroll in this plan that provides unlimited access to both Carmichael and Dewick-MacPhie dining halls. This plan can also be used at Hodgdon Good-To-Go for takeout food. You may only use one meal-plan meal for each meal period at Hodgdon Good-To-Go. It is important to note that if you choose to use a meal-plan meal to take food out of Hodgdon Good-To-Go, you are not permitted to use a meal-plan meal to gain access to Carmichael or Dewick-MacPhie during the same meal period. Also, if you dine in either Carmichael or Dewick-MacPhie, you will not receive any value from your meal-plan meal in Hodgdon Good-To-Go during the same meal period. Ten guest meals and $25 Dining Dollars are provided with the Premium plan. This plan is the best value for students who want to take full advantage of all meals provided.

Can somebody explain this stuff in a straightforward way.

Is these true
1) Freshmans can take unlimited meals from Carmichael and Dewick-MacPhie for any number of time in a day?

2)It is important to note that if you choose to use a meal-plan meal to take food out of Hodgdon Good-To-Go, you are not permitted to use a meal-plan meal to gain access to Carmichael or Dewick-MacPhie/

So, then what happened to unlimited meal plans in no. 1) above
