I am a college freshman at another university and I have been looking into food science programs. I've heard that UMass Amherst has a good program. Any details? Would I be able to transfer in?

I don’t really know anything about UMass’s food science program.

I haven’t heard that the food science program is competitive for admissions, so I would think as long as your grades at your current school are are good you should be able to transfer in without too much difficulty.

You should be able to transfer in.
I’m pretty sure the food science department is looking for majors, since they frequently advertise on the ads in the dining halls.

As you probably already know, the PhD in Food Science at UMass is ranked #1.

Another option is Framingham State, which also offers a BS in [Food Science](http://www.framingham.edu/chemistry/programs/food-science-major.html) within the Chemistry Dept. If you are a resident of CT, NH, or RI, you qualify for a [Regional tuition discount](http://www.framingham.edu/admissions/undergraduate/tuition-and-fees.html) for the Food Science major.
