Football @ Brown

I’ve heard Brown students don’t generally follow their sports teams, but do many students, particularly freshmen, attend the football games? I went to a few Ivy League football games back in the day, and they really were a lot of fun, precisely because no one took the games too seriously (as opposed to, say, the way they approach football in the Big 10 or SEC). Just everyone getting together on a crisp autumn day and going crazy for awhile. Just curious…

When I was at Brown, students packed the football stadium, especially Homecoming. I remember my dorm emptying out and everyone walking together to the stadium. Not any more. . There are some student fans who go to all the games, but unfortunately there are lots of empty seats. I’m not sure when or why it changed.

That’s the experience I had at my Ivy (not Brown). Most of us could care less about football, but there was a nice, goofy camaraderie walking to the stadium together, and so forth.

I ended up transferring, but happened to be near the school a few years ago and went to a game, and it was much as you described - few students, and lots of emply seats. Too bad.

It’s very sport specific - I went to a few great hockey and lacrosse games and an amazing wrestling match or two. No one would mistake Brown for Notre Dame or Duke in terms of sports in the culture but, you won’t have no one to hang with either

The past two falls, I’ve told myself I’d go see a football game, but work and sickness have not been compliant. I know some people go watch, but my group of friends have never really been into it.

What about the other sports? Basketball, Soccer specifically. What are the most popular that alot of people attend?
