Football Question

Our son is a Candidate, and will be playing football. I wonder if there are parents of football players that might advise us on how he can avoid losing weight during Indoctrination and football season. He drinks a calorie-loaded protein shake every morning, eats several peanut butter sandwiches a day in addition to large meals, and has consciously put on weight needed for football. Our understanding is that he will not be allowed to have any food in his room, and that he will not be able to take protein bars, shakes, etc. Would you mind sharing your sons' experiences, or any suggestions you might have? Thank you!

protein bars and shakes and anything NCAA approved is allowed in P/Cs rooms. junk food and other stuff is not.

my roommate plays d-line on the football team and he says it's unnavoidable, he lost 25 lbs during indoc. the coaches understand it and won't hold it against you. the coaches will hold on to anything you want them to, like protien powder/bars. don't worry, he'll gain it back within a few weeks out of indoc. his only other suggestion is to drink as much water as possible. good luck

Thank you for the information. It is very helpful.
