Football tickets

Since UCF's stadium is opening soon, my family ordered season tickets this year. We didn't order any for our son based on the fact they told us he'd be able to get student season tickets. We were amazed that they weren't making the stadium bigger, and now we're frustrated. Wondering because I hadn't heard anything in awhile, I emailed the guy who sold us our tickets, and he said that there will be a student lottery for tickets -- these will be free. And there will be a limited amount of $72.00 season student tickets, which will be distributed by class. Freshman and probably sophomores shouldn't expect access to these at all. So my family may have season tickets, but our S may not be able to get into the stadium. I guess I may have just lost my seat. LOL

Aaargh,

We too are disappointed - based on what they told us at orientation, we thought they had at least planned on enough student tickets when they builty the stadium, for those who wanted to purchase them and not have to deal with the lottery. It seems freshmen esp will not be able to get any...

Yeah, I never understood why they were building the stadium so small. I suppose it's a way to force consumer demand, i.e. releasing fewer xbox 360's knowing that there won't be enough and folks will go into a bit of a tizzy. We actually purchased an extra family ticket, figuring we'd allow our daughter to invite a friend or else, when she wasn't going, we'd invite another couple ... but now, I think our S will go for the lottery and use the extra ticket if he needs to. But what a bust ... sitting with your parents ... LOL

My W just called with the same bulletin on tickets, she is heading back over again to see if they re still here, she thought they said there was probably not going to be any tickets for the lottery. I looked up your note and read it to her. If I get any additional info I'll let you know, I'm wondering how many tickets are going to be in the lottery.

Just seems to me they have it wrong here, the games should be for the student body like everything else it's a business.

A friend of my husband -- an alumni -- was told this:

25K = projected UCF season ticket base
12K = students section

That is 37K, leaving 8K, subtract 5,000 for Texas, 2,500 for others. UCFAA staff, coaches and families, marching bands, maybe some other small group I'm missing and that eats another 2,000-2,500k.

The margin for single-game tickets for this year will be around 2,000-2,500k from the difference in the Texas allotment and rest of opponents. I have not heard, nor have I had my ear to the wall, if any non-Texas season tix are to be sold.

Not sure how accurate this is ... or not.

There was no one back at the table when my wife went back, but after thinking about it it appears to be pretty academic. No season tickets for underclassman and you take your chance in the lottery. I did find a bit of information on Stats for other Lottery's, what we don't know is what percentage of the students that actually enter the lottery

well, if anyone comes up with ideas on how to increase freshmen's chances at the football tickets, please let us know! LOL

I must be the only student that isn't interested in football tickets at all. I don't see the appeal of an average team in a mediocre conference. I'm sure the new stadium will be nice, but that doesn't cover up the fact that the team isn't good.

I figure ya gotta start somewhere, coasterphil. And besides we've been long suffering Cubs fans our whole lives, what's one more potential disappointment. <g> </g>

Zebes

I've been a Cubs fan forever, so thats why I know not to latch on to any other poor performing teams. Losing isn't any fun.

D said they were told that there will be 8K tickets in the lottery.

any word on when the kids know about the lottery/tickets?

If you want a "chance" at a guaranteed student season ticket(72$ + $5.00 processing fee), go to the athletic site. Info is now available. We called the phone number to order the ticket over the phone -- as it said you could -- however, they are only using the forms. Print out the form and mail it or fax it (or take it if you're local). Must be in by Aug. 24th, according to one of the representatives I talked to. Again, this will only get incoming freshman a guaranteed season football ticket if there aren't a lot of students who want them or there aren't a lot of upperclassmen who want them 'cause it'll be determined by class. Indiv. game tickets will be done on a weekly basis. You will not be charged unless you get the ticket.

DS was notified today that he has the student season ticket. As a freshman (one credit hour short of sophomore status), he was psyched. I hope other folks on here applied, too, as it wasn't advertised too much, which is why I think he had a chance. His roommates are bummed; they hadn't checked it out.

Zebes

DS just got his email. He has season tickets. We got 5 tickets that we are sharing with my brother and his wife (local alums) and my dad. So we're all set.
Go Knights!

So, anyone guessing on the outcome of the home opener versus Texas?

OUCH! (that's my prediction)

Double ouch! LOL ... but that's okay. Ya gotta start somewhere. <g> We also have four season tickets for my husband, myself, daughter and friend. D's glad that she doesn't have to give up her friend's ticket to her brother. :)</g>

Of course, with two kids in college etc.... we'll be drinking tap water. But we could enjoy watching other people drink soda and eat hot dogs....

:-)

Just got an E Mail, D and all three of her suitemates won the Lottery for the Texas game and got tickets in the student section. They are all pretty excited.

Have you gotten your tickets in the mail yet? We haven't.
