Football

ok, so i know there's no football team. i'm a huge football fan and i am wondering from any other football people that attend if it is really that bad not having a team. is it good enough having the soccer team and the falcons (i'm from atlanta so i'm already like the biggest falcons fan). a lot of other schools i'm looking at are really big football schools with lots of spirit (UGA, Notre Dame). i really like everything else about emory but i'm just trying to compare. thanks.

Here's the thing. Yea, a lot of students wish that we had a football team. I grew up with high school football, college football, etc. and I always thought that I would go to a big state school with a big football team. But it's really what you make of it. If you think that not having a team is going to be a dealbreaker, then don't come to Emory. You will be disappointed. On the other hand, everyone wakes up to watch football on Sunday. My grades were worse in the fall in part, I think, because all I did on Sundays was go to the sportsbar or the DUC (which has NFL Sunday Ticket for students for free) and watch football. You're going to find people who share you're enthusiasm, that's for sure. DI football is huge as well. hook em

thanks so much that's good to hear

Do any Emory students follow GaTech sports and go to their games?

Not usually, unless they have friends at GT. They are more likely to get tickets to pro sporting events--you can often get tickets through Emory to various things

I'm a huge football fan, but I actually like the fact Emory does not have a football team. I think there is something to be said for NOT having a football team. Really, football is kind of anti-intellectual. Top colleges and D1 sports are kind of a silly mix --are those Vanderbilt and Notre Dame football players, in general, even on the same plane academically with their fellow classmates?

I'm going to the Falcons-Cardinals game in October. It's going to be awesome.
