For all those waitlisted: did anyone NOT get option

to waitlist in priority?

It appears that everyone who got waitlisted at cmu, got option to register for regular or priority. Is there anyone who did not get option to register for priority.

I can see why some folks may not choose regular over priority tho'. If you are waitlisted elsewhere, you don't want to commit to cmu by May 6. On the other hand, if you are selected by cmu and don't accept by may 6, then you run the risk that you may not get anything else either. Sort of early decision for waitlist. So it makes sense.

The letter implies that not everyone is given the priority option… “Because of your qualifications, we are offering you the opportunity to be placed on our priority waiting list.”

But then the priority FAQ sheet implies that everyone IS given the option. “Applicants who have been offered a place on the waiting list can choose one of two options–a regular waiting list option or a priority waiting list option”, with no mention of “applicants who are exceptionally qualified and who have been offered a plae on the waiting list” or anything like that.

Interesting…

If I even accept the waitlist offer, I won’t go on priority. I seriously can’t make the committment, as I don’t think I like CMU as much as Cornell, which did accept me. And I hate waitlists.

I did not even receive a letter. The waitlist decision showed up online about 2 weeks ago, and I did not get anything. Should I call them?

They’re basically trying to form a list of people, that if accepted, will attend. Smart thing to do IMO.

I applied to Tepper and Econ in HSS, and got waitlisted to both.

I had the option of checking whether I wanted to accept a place on the regular waitlist or priority waitlist for both schools.

I chose priority waitlist for Tepper, and regular waitlist for Econ.

Sorry be to off topic but Mango lassi tastes really good :)
