So... Northwestern was kind of my first choice this year, but I wasn't sure enough to apply ED. I wanted to go to the communications school, applied RD, and was rejected. Looking back, my ECs for the school weren't the best they could have been, in that my main "hook" was that I co-produce/edit and co-host a talk show for my school's cable acccess network, and I've done TV stuff all 4 years. I know there are kids who've probably made movies and other amazing stuff like that applying to this school, but still.... my question is this:
What kind of EC stuff should I have if I want to even consider applying again as a transfer? I'll be at NYU (college of arts and sciences) next year, and I'm hoping to gain some sort of experience using my resources there, but I don't know how freshman year will really play out. I'll give you some of my other stats I guess, so this can be a better-formed question--
SAT: 1350/2050, ACT: 30 (but a 35 on English) [I'm very bad at standardized testing]
GPA: unweighted- 3.94 (at least.. I don't know the "retabulation" for after senior year); weighted- 4.89 (at least... again.... don't know the updated one, but it'll be better)
Rank: I have no idea, but it's top 10% out of 452/ top 45, and I'm assuming it's not in the extremely low part of that 45. I'm probably somewhere in the middle. But my school is recognized as one of the most competitive schools in PA or something like that.
ECs: the TV show, VP of South Asian culture club, NHS, Model United Nations, Peer Mediation (a big club that helps organize unity events and stuff in the school), Human Rights club, and a couple other clubs that I went to for maybe a year or so.... then I also volunteered for an entire summer at a service center for senior citizens, and I also went to a biomedical research summer program at UPenn, and I also published a few articles in the Philly Inquirer's "Neighbor" section.

I know I asked all of this on the forum earlier, but I figure-- different people will be looking at it now, and thus, I will hear different ideas.

Thanks for reading all of that, even if you don't end up having any input. :)
