...I'll tell you what I did and maybe it will help you to get a response very soon!

(No need to reed this paragraph if you are not interested in my stats/high school "career".) I applied mid December, I emailed the UCF VP to let them know how interested I was (he responded and actually forwarded my message to the Interim director), and I also had a nice essay. I only had a 22 on the ACT and a 4.2 weighted GPA. I had some ECs, but not many...just some volunteer work and things to do with the student newspaper (editor in chief and some awards). I also received As in five college courses through dual enrollment, (am currently taking an additional four), and only took one AP class. Other than those courses I had taken all Honors classes at my high school.

Anyways, at the end of January, I emailed the UCF Interim director to just ask her a question REGARDING my application...I did not want to sound like the countless others who just ask when my application will be reviewed. She was out of the office for a few days, but the same day she came back she responded to my email and told me that my application status was updated. (I was accepted for the Summer).

So basically, I think that since I asked her a question about my application, she or someone must have opened it up to answer my question, and since the application was already open, they went ahead and reviewed it and gave me a decision.

I also told my friend what I did, she emailed the Interim Director, and in about two days she was also accepted.

I hope this helps anyone who has been waiting for a long time! If you applied recently, I do not recommend emailing anyone because they do review applications as they receive them (supposedly), but if you have been waiting for a couple months I would definitely try this if you haven't already! :)
