second choice, i think

If meeting other freshmen in the dorms isn’t reall a priority, how are the highrises then? And are there any apartment style dorms in the quad (so one washroom per apartment rather than one large one for the whole floor)

^Not that I am aware of

High rises are not as exciting as the quad, but it’s nice if you prefer a more peaceful/quiet environment. Another benefit of high rises is that you don’t have to worry about getting into one your sophomore year (when everyone in the quad tries to do community living in a high rise). About 70 people got rejected this year. My friend is now stuck in Sansom West because of this =P

So the chances of getting into the Highrises freshmen year, if they are your 1st choice, are good?

if i wanna get into fisher, will my chances increase or decrease if i apply to a residential program?? if i get rejected from the program will I still be considered for the house??

if I get into the program, will my whole floor be part of the same program??

I’m thinking of applying to Healthy Living. Does anyone know if the kids that do this program are the cool, athletic, social type or are they the non-drinking type?

thanks for any responses

also, does this application look good to you guys or is it not varied enough

fisher double

ware double

riepe double

hill double

hill single

no idea

hill double (exploring phily)

hill double (freshman leadership)

any idea what to do for #6??

is there a dorm with more techie/math/sci/eng majors? also don’t drink/drug. like girls, tho…

@rookie33:

You can’t have all of those things
Check out Stwing, in Kings Court, at least.

how hard is it for three freshman girls to get a triple?

hcvcops, if you’re applying for a res program (exploring philly, etc), that has to be your 1st and 2nd choice (I asked this at the Penn Previews)

current students: do freshman actually regret living in the highrises? bc I really want to do “freshman experience” in harrison (with quad as 2-4 choices) but I don’t want to regret not living in the quad. harrison seems to have a lot of perks (not just the bathroom thing, bc I don’t have a problem with communal bathrooms)

I heard that Riepe has some Jewish program so it’s good to be jewish and to go there… is this true?

this thread is kind of dead but to revive it, i want to repeat a question asked earlier -
if you apply for the healthy living/substance free programs in fisher are you completely isolated

as hcvops said:

“I’m thinking of applying to Healthy Living. Does anyone know if the kids that do this program are the cool, athletic, social type or are they the non-drinking type?”

I have 3 questions and I’m going to put lots of exclamation marks at the end of this sentence!!!

1)
I found that I could do this:

Residential program @ Dorm A

Residential program @ Dorm B

Dorm A

Dorm A

Dorm A

Dorm A

Dorm A

Dorm A

…does this mean I will be pretty much guaranteed to live in “Dorm A?” Because that doesn’t sound right… Is that a stupid question?

2)
Do freshmen usually REALLY regret not choosing a Quad house/other freshman houses?
Like REALLY REALLY? I’m thinking of going for a highrise…

3) Okay I have actually two more questions but they’re both “chances” questions so yeah.
What are the chances of getting a single room in the Quad?
What are the chances of getting a highrise? If they were both within the top 4 choices

Please, some answers! The housing app is due really soon you know… :)

rorokoko,

It’s a new program, and it (like all res programs) is only 15 or so people. I don’t think anyone knows much about it.

emyo,
- If all of those A’s are quad houses, you’re not guaranteed to live in that house. You might just get assigned randomly somewhere.

Don’t live in the high rises. Freshmen regret it. I promise. You may not realize this, but meeting other people is the single most important thing to do, and it’s MUCH MUCH harder in the high rises.

Neither of those things will happen if it’s not your first choice. There aren’t that many high rise rooms available to freshmen, and there just aren’t that many quad single rooms (especially when you think of it as “beds”)

I highly recommend people not apply to Hill. Boycott hill. it is a prison.
