For College of Letters and Science Admissions

So for college of letters and science admissions, I heard major doesn’t make a difference when applying. So do you have equal chances of getting in if you check a history major compared to a biology major? In other words does major make a difference for acceptance when applying into college of letters and science?

If you are admitted to L&S as a frosh, you will enter undeclared if you matriculate.

In short, no. Your major does not influence your admissions so long as that major you pick belongs in the College of Letters and Science.

During the holistic review process, UC Berkeley admission officers (AOs) will review all the information you provided in your application. They will not consider the major you state on your application because they understand that you may end up switching majors if and when you matriculate. If you are admitted, you will enter the College of Letters & Science undeclared and will need to take some prerequisite classes to declare a major.
