For Computer Science at CUNY, should I try to transfer to CCNY or stay at Queens/Brooklyn College?

Hi,

I’m a Brooklyn native and a post grad with a BBA in Public Accounting from Pace University. After over 2 years in the field of IT Audit, I know this is not the career path for me. So I applied to CCNY for Computer Science as I want to be a computer programmer, but was rejected (I plan on calling to see what I can do to improve my chances). The rejection email gave me the option of applying to two other CUNY schools, so I chose Queens College and Brooklyn College as the have pretty good computer science programs (by CUNY standards). I wanted some thoughts on what I should do for computer science in the CUNY system. My options are:

  1. Attend Queens or Brooklyn college and try to transfer to CCNY the following semster/year.
  2. Attend Queens or Brooklyn college and just study computer science there.
  3. Try to get into CCNY as a liberal arts major and try to transfer into the school of engineering the following semester/year.

I’m new to the CUNY system, so I’m not sure what my chances are with each option. Also, I know CUNY may not be the best for Computer Science, however, I already have loans from my first degree, so SUNY/Private is just out of the question. I’m already used to seeking out opportunities to better my job search chances (e.g. extracurricular on or off campus) and interviews are not a concern for me.

Just a lil more info that you may want to know, I graduated with a 3.33 GPA with honors, however, I only took Astronomy for my science class and only had to take elementary calculus and elementary statistics for my major.

Thank you in advance for you input!

@JayBee123 out of curiosity, what did you not like about public accouting? Since I’m currently majoring in accounting.
