Hello,

I just have a quick question for current Stern students.
For most of the classes, such as finance, econ, or accounting at Stern Undergrad College, what is the usual class size?

Hello,

I just have a quick question for current Stern students.
For most of the classes, such as finance, econ, or accounting at Stern Undergrad College, what is the usual class size?

Thank you very much~!

Oh and how easy is it to build close relationships with professors? how accessible are they?

the professors and ta's are very accessible.. make sure you have your common hour free (12:30~2:00 pm.. so just try not to schedule CAS classes at that time).

The introductory Stern classes are large.. mostly over 50 students I'd say. Econ classes (Micro and Macro) has close to 300 people - but the recitations have around 15.

Hope that helps!

Is that because everyone has to take Macro and Micro or because there aren't enough classes offered for macro and micro, or both?

Macro and Micro range from 200-350 students because of the amount of students who are required to take the courses. There are students from generally every school in NYU taking the economics courses.
The classes are that large mainly because of the number of students.

I am going to go a bit off topic, but keeping in mind what the OP has asked, how would you current students describe your opportunities of making friends with your colleagues considering the (very) big classes? What about residential life? How easy is it to make friends with people in your dorms? (I heard that dorms are like apartment buildings, as in people are rather disconnected from each other) I know this is difficult, but from hear-say how would you compare the mingling-opportunity at NYU with other colleges/universities?
