Ok -- all the applications are in. What are the best things about WashU? What do you feel are its strengths and the things you can get there that are unique and different from what you get at other schools?

I think the flexibility of taking classes and choosing majors in any of WUSTL schools is invaluable, since many students find out that their "intended major" is not what they expected it to be, and start looking for other options in a year or so.

Also, the campus is gorgeous, and the general atmosphere is very friendly and cooperative.

I think one of the best things about WashU is that it offers a really excellent array of resources, support, and opportunities - in academics, extracurriculars, etc. The advisors and workshops in places like the career center, undergraduate research, writing center, study abroad, cornerstone, academic departments in general, etc, are extremely helpful. You can also get a great deal of personal attention if you seek it out - the professors are very accessible. Along these lines, you also have a great deal of flexibility and options for tailoring your academic experience the way you want it. I wish I could stay more than 4 years so I can take advantage of everything that's available.

I think one of the most unique things is the breadth of student groups on campus. We're lucky in that our student group funding comes from our student government's $2.1 million budget, something almost unparalleled at most institutions.

Students really do control much of the programming on campus. I just saw Dr. Drew speak on campus last Friday and Alberto Gonzales is going to speak on Tuesday.

I agree with everything posted so far, and I have add that the dorms far surpassed my expectations. Also, the food is known to be some of the best offered on any college campus in the nation.
