for every student rioting in support of Paterno: you guys are disgusting.

You guys would support pedophilia just to uphold your Penn State loyalties?

ugh.

No wonder the rest of the world dislikes sports fans.

Uhhhhhhhhh Paterno wasn’t the one that was sexually abusing the kids…maybe you should…oh I don’t know READ the news before you comment on it…just saying, wouldn’t want you feeling like an idiot…

Someone walked in on the def coordinator having intercourse with a 10 year old boy in the showers and told Paterno. He did nothing to stop it.

He told the athletic director, however he should have done more. But to say he did nothing is a lie.

I was not arguing that he didn’t do enough to stop it but merely pointing out to the OP that he was wrong in stating that the Penn State students are supporting a pedophile because Paterno wasn’t the person abusing boys.

No they’re supporting pedophilia, not supporting a pedophile. They would rather defend someone who defended a pedophile than see justice done.

Paterno reported it to Shultz who oversaw campus police. Just wanted to point that out.

Paterno did jack.

Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.

And the fact is, Paterno did nothing. As Maureen Dowd of the New York Times says, Paterno’s heart is black. The fact that you’re defending him on here makes you disgusting too. Almost every respectable journalist in the country is against him. You’re just like all those hooligan fans.

Yes, to absolve his conscience so he could forget about it for nine years.

I don’t know about you, but any decent person would have campaigned for Sandusky’s firing after knowing what happened. When the administration did nothing, he should have continued doing something. Anyone would. I would. If you wouldn’t have, then you’re morally abhorrent too.

Paterno could have done more than he did- when he saw the administration doing nothing, he should have gone to the real police. There are people who care who would have put a stop to that earlier, and possibly saved one or more of those boys from a traumatizing experience.

I just have to wonder if similar situations are occurring in other respected institutions (not necessarily universities). It’s really disgusting, and as stated above, morally abhorrent.

OI!!

i don’t need you self righteous pricks bashing on sports fans here!

We don’t need morally abhorrent sports fans who defend those who would cover-up for a pedophile here.

As soon as McQueary saw what happened he should have reported it to the authorities. He should be the one that was fired on the spot.

Sandusky was apparently no longer employed by 2002; he just used the facilities for his group. Still, it is saddening that Paterno (whose name is so close to paternal) did not follow up.

If this were a Catholic Church official who did almost nothing to help sexually abused boys, no one would think of defending him. It’s because it’s a sports coach. Good on Penn State for firing him–people need to know they can’t look away and expect to get off scot-free.

I resent the fact that you lump all sports fans into one category.
