For everyone who took the SSAT today

So, how'd it go?

I think the math was quite easy while the reading comprehension was okay (not too hard, not too easy). The verbal killed all my brain cells. :)

I took D'yer's advice -- I went Christmas shopping with my friends after. Sure did take my mind off the possibility of getting low marks in the verbal portion!

Heyyyyy! Math was great. Reading comprehension was ok except for the one about the Russian feminist.Kinda tricky? Verbal was not too bad for me. But not so great either, what the heck is a proscenium??

I thought the Russian feminist story was okay. The one that killed me was the passage about London dogs or something. I didn't understand it at all!

I omitted four questions on each of the first math, verbal, and reading sections, and seven or eight on the last math section. I think that I did better than last year, but last year I was pretty confident and I ended up bombing it. We'll see in a few weeks! :)

Ahhhh....verbal slaughtered me. Math was bleh, harder than the practice tests, but easy enough. Reading was medium, and oh, did I tell you how evil verbal was?

verbal was the worst thing on this entire planet!!!! the reading was okay and the math was better then expected. But i dunno. i'm so scrared i failed everything!!!!! (AHHHHHHHHHH!)

I think I omitted 12 total in the entire verbal section. Is that bad? The analogies killed me; the vocabulary wasn't too bad.

I didn't answer 4 (total) in the math, because I really did not get the questions. Anyone here remember the S figure -- something about line segments?

I hope we all get good scores!

I think it was A-E (the math question of the S). But I'm not sure... Something about how much it would curve. The vocab was a nightmare imho, and analogies worried me too. But if you get 14 wrong for verbal, it comes out to a 92 percentile (for 8th grade boys, I think)

I chose A-E as well.

i took it again today. it was pretty hard but think i did well in the math which is my strong suit. i agree with everyone else on the difficulty. good to know i was not alone. my dad says that an eight grader should not be expected to know what procenium means. the reason we all want to attend boarding school is to learn all of these words. lol. my mom says that i am not expected to be a finished product.

nhfootballer, what did you get last time?

I need HELP! I am taking my first SSAT test next January. What is the best way to prepare for this test with only 4 weeks away. I am in 8th grade and my goal is get around 85 to 90 percentile.

Thanks

verbal was my worst section.

math was pretty simple though

Actually.. I liked the verbal. only bummed me on like at most 10 questions. but i new some roots in some of the vocab. so it helped me. Math was easy like last time. but hopefully i didn't do as bad. I chase a-e and the s problem too. That's the only hard problem besides one with 10 points for guessing a game correct. I didn't know what to do if the guy under guessed the score so i didn't add any points to him. I gave him 17 points.
Reading was brutal. I didn't understand anything. There were some gangsters taking the test next to me cracking up at everything they read. it was so annoying. the test taker had to kick one guy out. Lol... Anyways. I think my essay was really good. the prompt was there is very little differences between one person and another.

i didn't think the reading was that bad. i know i missed a couple on math but hopefully i didn't do too horrible. Vocab---i have no idea how it went. Most of the time it got between two answers and i went with my gut feeling. But who knows, maybe all my gut feelings were wrong. When do we get our scores if we signed up for the email thing?

I think in two weeks or so. It's usually earlier than the designated date.

ohh woww this brings back memories when i was in 8th grade last year. i took the test december 9th, 2006. :D

Like there was three questions with adding ten points and stuff for the first question i got like 14 but my answer kept coming out to be 13 cuz 17-4 equals 13 and the other two were like 2 and -2?? Also for the hotdog and popcorn i put one of them cannot be determined did u guys get that?? HELP

Also for the one with the paperweight guy was the author scholarly interested?? And the one with russian feminists that was tough

i didn't think the verbal was all that bad, except i forgot what stratify meant. hah i went christmas shopping afterwards too! and the math was bad.. the last like three questions of it? eghh.. i left three questions blank on the entire test, is that bad? cuz i guessed on like five..thats probably not good though.

and yeah i got thirteen too for the one about football it was sooo confusing
