For internationals...

Yeah this may be a really silly question; if you've applied for fin. aid does that mean your chances of acceptance are drastically decreased, or could JHU still accept you but decline your application for fin. aid?

Yes it does mean that your chances are decreased

So what can you tell me about the latter part of my question?

It does not decline your financial aid application, it offers you the financial package if you are accepted, its upto you if you accept it ornot. THey cant accept you and then reject your fin aid.

Wish i was rolling in money coz i really want to go to hopkins but i have applied for aid so...

sorry to break this to you but hopkins is one of the stingiest unis out there. i applied ED for about 35k and got deferred despite the fact that the acceptees had stats way lower than mine. nowi've given up hope on them even though i'm in the RD pool. i really don't expect them to give me the money. oh hopkins, how dearly i wanted to be in ur premises. lolz.

you're prolly right. but hopkins is an excellent university and that's why even we, being internationals and knowing the bleak chances for getting aid, try for admission to hopkins. i wish the scene was different. why should there be any difference between an american and an international asking for aid at hopkins when other univs like yale and harvard dont distinguish between the 2 applicants? i mean, if hopkins has like 1000 slots and suppose it accepts only americans, then it'll have to meet the need of all those 1000. but if 999 are americans and the 1000th person is an international why should there be any problem? can't the univ treat the int'l student just as it would any other student and give him aid?

Wait, i thought hopkins is one of those universities (like cornell) that can accept you without meeting 100% of your financial need (for internationals only).
I remember asking during one of those informational sessions. But anyway, let's hope for the best...

On average, hopkins meets 95% of an applicant's need and yeah, they can accept you without meeting your financial need.
Btw, does anyway really know when do decisions come out. 31st? 1st?
