“Junior-level standing (60 semester/90 quarter transferable units completed) by the end of the spring term before you transfer.
GPA of 3.20 or higher earned in transferable courses.”

Well yeah in transferable courses… what else would you be taking?

Was just mentioning it because for myself and probably ben8jam (and other older returning students) most of the classes we took 10 years ago that would bring down our GPA are not transferable. All of the 60+ units I’ve taken at CCC that constitute my 4.0 are transferable. That’s the only reason I mentioned it.

So if I didn’t apply for FA I wouldn’t be able to see anything? All it says is “You do not have a Financial Aid Summary for this Award Period.”

But I can still apply if I want a lower rate on private loans right? I remember my scholars counselor saying I could apply up until I started attending wherever I choose to go.

I hope everyone get a great weekend, the torture is almost over. I don’t think there will be any action from now on since it’s off office hours. (I must say that I received emails from UCI very late at night though regarding acceptance/finaid). Because UCLA are very limited on staff that reviews the transfer applications, I would think they’re working OT during this crunch time! who knows. I got a call last Saturday morning from UCLA (volunteers) to inform me about the UCLA Alumni scholarships and to apply.

Actually, I’ve already been through this. The courses are evaluated on a course by course basis based on course descriptions. The majority of them are NOT transferable. For example,

4 Honors english classes - none are transferable because they all have a different focus than the CC/UC progression (are basically history/english combo)

Econ - not transferable because it was a combo micro/macro

2 CS - can’t remember why they don’t transfer

2 Physics - different material covered, not calculus based, have been told that none of them are likely to transfer

etc. etc… but thanks again for the post with little to no actual useful info.

I called UCSB, where I have already been accepted to double check on how my academic status at my previous school might affect my actual admittance, and what she said was almost exactly the opposite. She said that because of the large gap in education and the substantial current progress (having 60+ units instead of just a couple classes) that they basically completely ignored my record at my past university during evaluation.

As far as the the post acceptance evaluation of transferable coursework, this confirms exactly what I have suggested in the past, which is that they base their evaluation more heavily on what they KNOW is transferable, hence CCC coursework. But I already have a good idea of what will and will not be transferable based on multiple meetings with counselors trying to figure out what I might be able to use from my previous classes toward meeting UC requirements.

Do you think they’ll post up more decisions (regarding financial aid) next week? or is this a one time deal? I’m so nervous… I don’t think I got in :/

^ Yeah, I’m pretty sure they will post more up next week. People with high GPA’s + who are TAP certified haven’t seen any financial aid info posted yet, so more info should be available this upcoming week. Waiting sucks!
