Thanks for the help guys. I can see my finaid info on URSA, so I guess that means I got in? whatever. I’ll wait till I get an official letter.

that is a discussion on this topic, hope it helps :-)

for ucla igetc has to be done by spring. for many other ucs you can do it in summer as well.

Sweetnezz- actually, i just posted the opposite in a different thread, you didn’t read that entire admissions page (goto bottom of it):

Certification:
Only California community colleges may certify completion of IGETC. Certification of IGETC completion is the responsibility of the last California community college a student attends prior to transfer (with the exception of summer session)—although upon request, a college other than the last one attended may also certify.

KingINc, could you see your FINAID, in ursa?

my question is, does ucla update anything during the weekend??? or they have the weekend off?

ben8jam, i’m confused, , that just says that the last community college doesn’t have to certify the summer session, for example if the student wanted to complete it at the university the are accepted to, a different one cc, etc.

^ no you must continue to check URSA 30 times a day over the weekend…

30 is the limit?

ok, ok. it says it’s not required to finish igetc but it says it may improve chances in a competitve major.

■■■.

but if your final IGETC class is in the summer and you want to start UC in the fall… who certifiies you if the CC won’t do it in the summer? i don’t think UCLA is going to certify your IGETC you have to submit the certification to them

honestly, i really have no idea. best talk to the counselor at your CC

Chesser:

FROM A PREVIOUS POST:

IGETC is not required but it is a recommended pathway to finishing lower division GE’s. It says it right on the form.

I’m a business administration major and I’m not following IGETC, I was exempt from taking ENG1A, so I took ENG1B which is the only English course required for my major at UCLA (Business Econ) and UCB. I also called the counselors at UCLA and UCB and they told me that it is okay that you didn’t finish IGETC, as long as you have the min 60 transferable units and are closing in on finishing the prereq’s.

(Pasadena City College - Transfer Center - IGETC Requirements) - that’s my cc’s IGETC which is similar to most ccc’s.

nickthecoolest - somewhat. Certain majors really just need to fulfill which ever prereqs are required for their major. EX. English majors would need to finish the Area 1 portion, Foreign Language portion, and their additional prereqs depending on school.

chesser, yes i can.

Major: Physics
GPA Cumulative: 3.0 (went to a 4-year 10 years ago)
GPA Transferable: 4.0 (4.0 at CCC)
Igetc: finishing this semester
Prereqs: 8 of 9 complete
Units: Will have 68 or so after this semester

No financial aid report on URSA

hey “too old for this”,you are in the same boat as me

Major: Econ/Int’l Area studies
GPA 4-Year 10 years ago: 2.5 (went to a 4-year 10 years ago)
GPA CC This year: 4.0
Igetc: Nope
PreReq’s: Yup

No financial aid report on URSA

I can not see mine yet, but i also did not fill out any financial aid information.
GPA is 3.79 for communications.

So if I didn’t apply for FA I wouldn’t be able to see anything? All it says is “You do not have a Financial Aid Summary for this Award Period.”

Is it too late to apply for FAFSA?

UCLA wont admit anyone under a 3.2

Chutneyyy,

You forgot “in transferable courses.” That part is important.

That’s not necessarily true. I know someone who got in last year as a transfer with a 3.0 gpa, an F and several W’s. She didn’t have a special circumstance or anything and no honors. She got in…
