For people who do work study...

How much $$$ do u make a semester? Just curious.

it depends on the school and the job. At some schools you can get a job at a lab or as a research asstistant you can make $10+ an hour.

Roughly a thousand

Does the money you make go directly into your account (like the money you have to pay to your college) or do you just get a check and do whatever you want with it? I would be used Workstudy money on my tuition, so it would kinda suck to have to take a 2,000 loan....and then pay with my 2,000 workstudy AND have to pay interest.

at my school it came in a check every other friday.

Can anybody else tell me how much they make a semester? I know schools and the jobs have to do with the pay, but I just want to find an average number that I can work with. Thanks.

Also, can u post ur hours a week? Thanks guys.

work study i made 800/semester.. so 1600 year.

hey thats not all, how much did you work? and although i dont like fenders, girls that play guitar are hot!

A little off-topic on my own thread, but whats a fender? Anyways keep the posts of 'how much u make' comin guys. Thanks.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought with work-study programs you got a set amount of money that you could make, specified in your financial aid package. At least that's how my college works, I have $1500, so once I make that much money at my job I'm done for the year...doesn't matter if I've worked 4 hours a week all year long or worked 40 hours a week for a month and a half.

well i have 0 EFC so i have to work alot probably..thats gonna suck, can i study i do my work at the same time,? i really wanna work in the library or a bookstore...oh and fenders are guitars, they make an OK sound, but there very flimzy and if your gonna spend that much money i suggest buying a gibson! or an ESP!

I heard of some jobs that let u work and study (when ur not doing stuff) during ur working hours. Thats what I would like to get.

Man 1600 a year. Hearing that makes me think twice about transfering from my community college and quiting my job were I make 40,000 a year.

40000? what do you do? but then again are you happy? because like they said in the movie BLOW, money isnt real

Per semester about $500 as tuition waiver (computer lab tech). Now they have jobs in the labs for $5 an hour.

"40000? what do you do? but then again are you happy?"

I don't want to be too specific but I deal with with network operations for a major broadband company you have heard of if you live in the US.

I'm not unhappy I'm making good money for a 22 year old student; however I want a career in business, finance or accounting related and I don't think community college can get me were I want to go.

It's actually kind of a tough decision there are people that think I should stay were I'm at and finish school at night, but in my mind that's the safe route. I don't want to settle for the safe route, I don't want middle class. I think I rather go into debt as a student were I actually have a chance at getting were I want to be.

I don't want to be 45 and married living in middle class America regretting that I didn't trake any chances, that I settled for average.

"Man 1600 a year."

Ur talking about ur work study right?

Some work study jobs are full time jobs...no time to study, some allow you to pick up a book and read for a while. Many work study jobs don't pay as well as off campus jobs, you have to balance out commute time..and flexibility.

so am i better of just getting an offcampus job, like at store....remember minimum wage is supposed to go up to 7.25 soon, and im gonna be DEAD broke
